My first.

My first crush was when I was in grade 5 or 6. Andrew was his name. We used to spit at each other when we played downball at recess. Ahh, young love.

He was (and still is) a cutie. He was never a total bastard either. Sure, he did go through that phase, but he was always nice to me. I always had a soft spot for him. Even when I was over the crush and well and in my late teens. Even now I still think of him fondly. And every time I do, I can't help but think of a certain scenario.

I used to sit down the back of the classroom, second seat from the back on the far left. Andrew used to sit directly behind me, and my mate Jackie and his mate Paul. Anyhoo, we were doing some class and I was bored. Shitless. And I was cutting the ends off my fringe. My long fringe. I don't remember exactly what happened, but Andrew was egging me on and pretty soon, my long fringe was up around my forehead. But only on the left side. I had trimmed the right side too, piece by piece, and it stuck around my ears somewhere.

I didn't get found out until the end of class when the teacher came round to collect our books. The floor was covered in hair. Frantically she demanded to know where it all came from, and my deskmates dumped me in the shit. After being told off (I was such a ditz and didn't realise at the time) I promised to tell my mother that night.

I did. I don't recall my mother really worrying about it. But she did trim my fringe. Straight across the middle of my forehead*. I hated it. Absolutely HATED it. I have never had a fringe since.

*I have wavy hair and the result is that the fringe then sits up higher than it really is.

It took me a bit to figure out what you meant by your fringe. I have so much to learn about how to speak Australia and these Fosters Beer commercials aren't helping at all.

My first crush was either Lora Veenaman or Sherry Clark. I remember telling Sherry that I loved her and she said "ew, I hate you. Go away!" I get that a lot.

This story reminds me of my cousin who let another boy shave his head in highschool once.
My Aunty was waiting for my cousin at the train station and when she saw a whole bunch of boys from his school get off the train she noticed "the poor kid with cancer" walking by.
Then she heard him let out a huge belly laugh that sounded remarkably like her son. It was her son - with a haircut straight from the chemo wing. Priceless.

The moral of the story? (yours and his) cutting hair in school is a wee bit dumb. But you learnt the hard way.

p.s I had some wanky fringe cuts myself over the years. It gives us character ;)

Oh lord, is there anything worse than an uncomfortable looking fringe, or as we dubbed it later a 'severe' fringe.

Thankfully I escaped that one, but I did have at various times a parade of awful hair, mullets, flat tops, undercuts and Dragonball Z hair.

Thankfully those days are behind me now, well almost!

Don't remember her name.

I was feeling her up in class in 4th grade. Got two fingers inside before she squealed and blew our cover.

But I didn't have to cut anything off either.

I'm with memphis steve...I had no idea what you meant at first.

Hey, in the third grade I was in love with a handsome Italian boy with black hair and blue eyes. I told him (Karl) I was going to marry him one day. I was his girl. He was in my class all 6 years and each year he gave me a hand made Valentine's day card.

Fuck...now I'm sad.

Ciao babes.

Geez---grade 5 girls had girl germs---oh, grade 7---they started to get boobs---now there was something that made those girl germs ok.
Oh, and I got a number one just after convincing the barber that my folks were ok with a mohawk

I let my first crush (5-6 yrs old) play with my balls. She liked it, and I liked playing with hers.

Great story and right now-- I have a new stylist who gave me too short fringe even though I warned her it would dry much shorter! I'm wearing hats right now.
