Ouch!

I had today off work. And I decided to do something interesting for once. Well, semi-interesting. I took my car into the mechanic and did some stuff in the city while I waited. Read: I dealt with some insurance issues, had lunch and lurked on the makeup floor at Myer. The girls were really good there. I told them straight out I was pretty much just wasting time, so she had me smell almost everything that was vaguely interesting. Much fun.

Then I went back to the mechanics. My 'simple' service cost me $175. And they picked up that I would need new brakes shortly ($450 and $230 for front and back), and I needed a tune up ($125).

Fucking OUCH!

I have my rego due this week, so I had to skip getting my brakes and tune up. Methinks I'll shop around for that one. I only needed my service done at the dealership to keep my warranty. There's nothing about needing to get all of my work done there.

Today is the two year anniversary of my arrival in Sydney.

You call that interesting? I would have expected some further info on the brakes and the servo-system and possibly on the hydraulics, also you do not say what make of car it is or give the exchange rate for the Australian dollar. Now that would have been interesting.

Looks like you won't be going out much over the next few months.

What do you get up to when you stay in?

That sounds like a normal visit to a mechanic! I have one due. My mechanic hasn’t seen my car yet, but based on a previous visit he has estimated the repairs in the $1,500 range.

Ripped off by a mechanic, not fair.
Happy anniversary, wishing I could celebrate with you...I would bring some Brown Brother's Wine :)

Mechanics are prone to rip people off... fortunately almost everyone in my family has some vehicle know-how, so I tend to only go to the mechanic for important things.

YaY for 2 years!

It sucks getting work done on your car. A few months ago I dropped $550 on mine. That really sucked.

Good luck with the car

they should make a reality tv show of 'sanity optional'. mechanics, make-up, insurance all make for great prime time tv.

Ingsoc - I dance, talk to myself, listen to music, blog, and play computer games. I'm such a geek. Oh. And I cook too.

Nick - OK. You win

Cazzie - I'm celebrating/commiserating this friday. Its my two year anniversary at work.

Josh - I used to live with the service manager. So you think I'd be able to trust them, just a little at least

Chucky - Thanks. I'll need it.

Raffi - My sarcasm meter is going nuts right now

Smacko - did you think of me?

Can you do a good fry up?

You can do a 'bad' fry up? I generally bake. Cakes, cookies etc. But I also do curries, pastries, stir frys, spaghetti, lasagne, mexican. I've always been able to cook.
